Littoral Terms of Use

Welcome to Littoral (the "App"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Littoral Studio ("we" or "us") governing your use of the App. When you first open the App or enable Online Features, we will ask you to read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may still use all local features of the App, but Online Features will remain disabled.

*Note: If there is any inconsistency between the English version and the Chinese version, the Chinese version shall prevail.*

The App is distributed via the Apple App Store and is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Standard EULA, these Terms shall govern to the extent permitted by Apple's mandatory terms.

1. Overview of Services

The App helps you log flights and visited places, and generate footprint maps, travel statistics, and shareable cards. It consists of:

• Local Features: Manual flight logging, data import/export, footprint maps, badges, and statistics. Your travel data is stored locally on your device and synced via your personal iCloud account.
• Online Features: Screenshot Recognition, AI Autofill (including route lookups by flight number), purchase verification, and feedback submission, which require an internet connection and interact with our servers.

2. Littoral Pro

• One-Time Purchase: Littoral Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks all share card templates and color themes, in-depth statistics, the full year-in-review report, and unlimited AI Autofill.
• Lifetime Local Access: Your one-time purchase permanently unlocks the local Pro features described above. We will never convert already-unlocked local features into a recurring subscription or charge for them again.
• Bonus Credits: The first time you purchase Littoral Pro directly, you will receive a one-time bonus of recognition Credits (the exact amount is displayed on the purchase screen). Pro access shared with family members via Apple's Family Sharing does not include bonus Credits, nor will bonus Credits be granted again when restoring purchases, switching devices, or reinstalling the App.
• Pricing: Prices are displayed in the App Store at checkout. We may occasionally offer launch discounts or promotional pricing; purchases made before or after a promotion are not eligible for price adjustments or partial refunds.

3. AI Autofill

• Free Quota: Free users receive a complimentary trial quota of AI Autofill lookups (as shown in the App), shared between post-scan Autofill and manual flight number lookups. Lookups that fail to return departure and arrival airports do not count against your quota.
• Fair Use for Pro Users: Littoral Pro users enjoy unlimited AI Autofill lookups. However, to prevent automated scraping, API abuse, or abnormal high-frequency requests, our servers enforce reasonable fair-use rate limits that normal personal use will never reach.

4. Recognition Credits

• Credit Consumption: Screenshot Recognition consumes Credits (typically 1 Credit per image, including automatically split long screenshots, subject to a maximum number of flights per scan as stated in the App).
• No-Charge Cases: No Credits are deducted if no valid flight is detected in an image, or if the exact same image is scanned again within a short deduplication window (typically 24 hours).
• Billing Basis: Credits are deducted once our server completes the scan and returns the extraction results, regardless of whether or how many flights you ultimately choose to save.
• New-User Bonus: New users enabling Online Features for the first time may receive complimentary trial Credits (limited to once per device, as displayed in the App).
• Nature of Credits: Purchased and bonus Credits are solely for using Screenshot Recognition within the App. They have no cash value, are non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed or refunded for cash outside of Apple's standard refund process.
• Account Binding & Data Loss Warning: Your Credits balance is stored on our servers and tied exclusively to the anonymous ID saved in your device's iCloud Keychain. Your balance automatically carries over when you switch devices or reinstall the App under the same Apple Account with iCloud Keychain enabled. However, if you change your Apple Account, disable or wipe your iCloud Keychain data, or request deletion of your server account data, your anonymous ID will be lost and your remaining Credits cannot be recovered.
• Rule Adjustments: We may adjust bonus amounts or scan rules over time based on operating costs, but any Credits already in your balance prior to such changes will not be reduced.

5. Refunds

• Refund Requests: All in-app purchases are processed by Apple. To request a refund, please contact Apple Support directly; Apple has sole discretion over whether to grant a refund.
• Usage Verification: When Apple processes a refund request, we may provide Apple with consumption records for that transaction to assist in their review.
• Credit & Entitlement Clawbacks:

- If a Credits purchase is refunded, the corresponding Credits will be deducted from your balance. If some or all of those Credits have already been used, your balance may become negative. While your balance is negative, Screenshot Recognition will be paused, and any future Credits you purchase will first be applied toward clearing the negative balance.
- If a Littoral Pro purchase is refunded, Pro features will be deactivated and the bonus Credits included with the purchase will be deducted from your balance (subject to the same negative-balance rule above).

6. Disclaimer on AI Recognition Results

Screenshot Recognition and AI Autofill are powered by third-party large language models. Due to variations in image quality, layout, or model limitations, extracted or autofilled results may contain errors (such as incorrect dates, airports, or flight numbers).

Please review all details carefully before saving (fields populated by AI Autofill are highlighted on the review screen). All recognition results, routes, and statistics are for personal travel logging and nostalgic purposes only, and must not be relied upon for actual travel, expense reimbursement, or any legal or official purpose.

7. Acceptable Use

When using the App, you agree that you will:

• Only upload screenshots that you have the right to use, and obtain prior consent if a screenshot contains another person's information.
• Not use the App for any unlawful purpose or upload illegal, infringing, or malicious content.
• Not crack, reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App; not use scripts, emulators, automated tools, or device manipulation to farm bonus Credits/free quotas or abuse our APIs; and not interfere with the normal operation of our servers.

If you violate these rules, we reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to Online Features without refunding or compensating any remaining Credits or entitlements.

8. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App's code, interface design, badge artwork, map styles, and original text belong to us. Built-in geographic boundaries and airport databases are sourced from open datasets and used under their respective licenses (see Settings → About → Data Sources).

The flight records and visited places you log, as well as the personal share cards you generate using the App, belong to you and may be freely saved and shared.

9. Service Changes and Discontinuation

• We continually update the App and may add, modify, or remove features over time.
• Because the App is operated by an independent developer, if we ever need to permanently discontinue Online Features (our recognition and lookup servers), we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice within the App.
• Offline Independence: All Local Features (including local features unlocked via Littoral Pro) run entirely on your device and do not depend on our servers. Even if Online Features are discontinued in the future, you will still be able to use all Local Features and export your data freely.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

• Service Availability: The App and Online Features are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While we strive to maintain reliable service, we are not liable for any interruptions, delays, or indirect losses caused by network failures, Apple service outages, third-party AI provider downtime, or force majeure events.
• Local Data Backups: Your travel records live on your device and in your personal iCloud account; we have no access to them and cannot recover them for you. You are strongly encouraged to back up or export your data regularly via Settings → Data. We are not responsible for any data loss resulting from lost or damaged devices, iCloud sync issues, OS updates, or your own deletion actions (including tapping "Clear All Data").
• Liability Cap: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to the App shall not exceed the total amount you have actually paid for the App or its in-app purchases.

11. Changes to These Terms

When we update these Terms, we will revise the date at the top of this page. For material changes, the App will prompt you to review and accept the updated Terms before continuing to use Online Features. If you do not agree, you may disable Online Features and continue using Local Features.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App should first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, the dispute shall be submitted to the competent court in our place of residence (subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions in your local jurisdiction).
